Angaben zur Abhaltung
In this lab, students learn how to use modern high-level design tools such as Matlab Simulink and HDL Coder to develop applications and algorithms for embedded systems. The main objective is to automate a baking line built upon Fischertechnik and develop proper algorithms for it. Depending on system requirements and timing constraints, students will have to decide which parts of the automation algorithm should be implemented in hardware (on an FPGA) and which in software (CPU).
Inh- Knowledge of hardware architectures
- Sound knowledge of programming C
- Basic knowledge of VHDL
- Basic knowledge of Matlab, Simulink and Stateflow is also helpfulaltliche voraussetzungen
After completing this module, students are able to:
- differentiate (understand) between model-based and code-based programming techniques,
- use (apply) modern, model-based development tools (e.g., Stateflow, Xilinx ISE und XPS),
- select and use different communication paths and interfaces in embedded systems,
- intelligently combine (evaluate) different computational resources in embedded systems (HW/SW codesign) and
- develop (create) a technical solution for typical time-critical control tasks using an FPGA-based embedded system.
