This class gives an introduction into the field of ultracold quantum gases. The sequel “Ultrakalte Quantengase 2” will follow in the summer term.

• Cooling of atomic gases with laser light

• Evaporative cooling
• Bose-Einstein condensation
Basic knowledge of quantum mechanics, atomic physics, and electrodynamics.
