Angaben zur Abhaltung
The course teaches relevant concepts of today’s Internet. The topics include Ethernet, IPv6, IPv4, TCP, UDP, HTTP, firewalls, webserver operation, NAT64, BGP and WWW security. Vertical topics include security, scalability, and resilience.

You do not need background in computer networks; having participated in courses such as the GRNVS lecture will make the course easier to follow.
After the course you will have theoretical and practical knowledge on the technologies and principles used in the Internet. In addition to the networking knowledge you will have obtained diverse competencies including the ability to identify and solve complex problems, formulating technical texts in English, and constructively co-operating with others in different constellations.

The course is divided into two parts: a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) that teaches the basics of the global network, and a blended learning part that deepens selected aspects.
The MOOC part of the course is structured into six modules with a background study phase, and a practical experiment phase each. The blended learning part at TUM consists of several modules with a lecture, a self-study part, and a hands-on in a laboratory together with a team partner each.
Both parts provide theoretical background information that is exercised in many practical exercises, and practically trained within a virtualized (1st part) and a physical (2nd part) Internet laboratory.
