|
In Introduction to Information Systems, students get an overview of the discipline of Information Systems (IS) and learn important terms, paradigms, and areas of application in IS. Information systems as the main focus object of the discipline are introduced and their design and modelling aspects are discussed. The students get to know how to use/design ERM, EPC, ARIS (architecture of integrated information systems), and UML. Furthermore, they learn how to model business models and get to know the different types of information systems (ERP, BI, Analytics). Also topics such as E-Business, SCM, information systems for banking, CSCW, Social Computing, and information management are part of the lecture. |

At the end of the module, students are able to - know paradigms and areas of information systems - classify information systems among other disciplines and distinguish it from computer science and business administration - understand information systems and their benefits in several industries - understand and create process and data models as foundation for information systems design |
