Intercultural Encounters (Come to Munich - Be at Home!)
Winter semester 2019/20
Carl von Linde-Akademie (ehem.)
(Contact information)
Angaben zur Abhaltung
Here you can develop your intercultural competence through workshops and joint activities in a practical, hands-on manner, gaining soft skills through learning by doing. International teams of trainers will help guide participants in actively becoming sensitive to other cultures and in reflecting on their own values. The event will also help international and local students get to know each other better, including opportunities to deepen contact through cultural and sport activities accompanying the program (language of communication: English).

Participation in two workshops and three events of the accompanying program is compulsory. In an ungraded group presentation, one's own and foreign cultural standards are reflected and exchanged with the other participants. The exam is provided in the form of a learning diary (3-5 pages) to document learning progress in terms of intercultural competences.
There is a deposit of 20 Euro for registration which will be paid back if participation is successful.

Language of instruction is English. There is a German speaking course as well (http://www.cvl-a.mcts.tum.de/index.php?id=1438). In both cases the language of the events is English.
After attending, students are able to
- reflect on own and foreign cultural standards
- recognize the dangers of stereotyping in an intercultural context
- deal more competently with cultural differences and possible conflict situations

A methodical variety of interactive tasks (eg work on case studies, simulations, group work) and short presentations is used.
Für die Anmeldung zur Teilnahme müssen Sie sich in TUMonline als Studierende/r identifizieren.
Note: Registration until 22.10.2019 on https://www.studentenwerk-muenchen.de/en/international/the-project-come-to-munich-be-at-home/registration/
